I was lost and did not know where to go for HIV and STD testing. I was impressed by your staff’s professionalism and the speed in which they processed my order. I was set up at the lab right away, and they turned around my results so quickly. I would refer all my friends to your service!

Herpes testing

HSV 1& 2 IgM

Known As: Herpes Simplex Virus 1&2 Recent Exposure, HSV Type 1 & Type 2 IgM.

Description: Through a blood sample, this herpes test is used to determine an acute infection. The IgM antibody production usually starts a few days after the initial infection. The Herpes IgM test is non-type specific, it does not differentiate between HSV 1 and HSV 2. Average incubation period for the HSV IgM test ranges from about 5 days-5 weeks. After a few months from the initial infection, a person usually begins to “phase out” and is no longer detectable with this test. The HSV IgM test may have cross reactivity, which could lead to a false positive, with prior herpes infections or other strains of herpes virus like Mono. Due to the limitations of the HSV IgM test, a person may only want to consider using this test if they are trying to determine whether or not they are experiencing a “Primary Episode” of a herpes infection or if they are attempting to track the possible “source” or “timeline” of the infection. Turnaround time is typically 1-3 business days.

Early detection is important so that treatment may begin as soon as possible and assist with delaying the onset of serious complications. In addition, knowing your status will enable you to take the necessary steps in preventing the transmission of Herpes to others.

Requirements: This is a blood test. No special requirements for testing.

Herpeselect ®Type 1 Only IgG ELISA

Known As: Herpes Simplex Virus 1 Remote Exposure, HSV Type 1 IgG, Herpes 1.

Description: Through a blood sample, this herpes test uses the FDA approved HerpeSelect® HSV 1 IgG ELISA technology. This test is a type specific herpes test that can detect HSV 1 by using the Glycoprotein G-based technology. Some people may be detectable for a past exposure to herpes as soon as 4 weeks from a suspected contact although most of the population would be detectable with this test after 12 weeks. For more information go to www.herpeselect.com Turnaround time is typically 1-3 business days.

Herpeselect ®Type 2 Only IgG ELISA

Known As: Herpes Simplex Virus 2 Remote Exposure, HSV Type 2 IgG, Herpes 2.

Description: Through a blood sample, this herpes test uses the FDA approved HerpeSelect® HSV 2 IgG ELISA technology. This test is a type specific herpes test that can detect HSV 2 by using the Glycoprotein G-based technology. Herpeselect ®Type 1 & 2 Type Specific IgG ELISA

Known As: Herpes Simplex Virus 1 & 2 Remote Exposure, HSV Type 1 & 2 IgG, Herpes 1 & 2.

Description: Through a blood sample, this herpes test uses the FDA approved HerpeSelect® HSV 1& 2 IgG ELISA technology. This test is a type specific herpes test that can detect HSV 1 & 2 by using the Glycoprotein G-based technology to differentiate glycoprotein G antigens gG1 (for HSV 1) and gG2 (for HSV 2). The ELISA test provides a quantified result. Some people may be detectable for a past exposure to herpes as soon as 4 weeks from a suspected contact although most of the population would be detectable with this test after 12 weeks. Herpeselect ®Type 1 & 2 Type Specific IgG Immunoblot

Known As: Herpes Simplex Virus 1 & 2 Remote Exposure, HSV Type 1 & 2 IgG, Herpes 1 & 2.

Description: Through a blood sample, this herpes test uses the FDA approved HerpeSelect® HSV 1& 2 IgG ELISA technology. This test performs like a simplified Western Blot test. This test is a type specific herpes test that can detect HSV 1 & 2 by using the Glycoprotein G-based technology to differentiate glycoprotein G antigens gG1 (for HSV 1) and gG2 (for HSV 2). The Immunoblot test provides a qualified result (positive, negative, or equivocal). Some people may be detectable for a past exposure to herpes as soon as 4 weeks from a suspected contact although most of the population would be detectable with this test after 12 weeks. The turnaround time for this test may vary depending upon the day your specimen is collected. This test is performed at the lab on Mondays & Wednesdays only (note: your specimen may be collected any day of the week). Please consult with one of our trained representatives to approximate your turnaround time. For more information go to www.herpeselect.com Turnaround time is typically 2-5 business days.

What is Herpes?

Oral herpes, coldsores, genital herpes, HSV 1 and HSV 2 are common names for the herpes simplex virus. Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) Type 1 & 2 are common human pathogens that live in the nervous system. HSV 1 is primarily known to infect the tongue, mouth, lips, pharynx, and eyes. HSV 2 is primarily known to infect the genital area and cause neonatal infections. Infection may occur by either HSV 1 or HSV 2 at any site. Statistics show that over 30% of genital Herpes simplex virus infections are being caused by HSV 1. read more...
