1. Do I need to get an HIV or STD test if I don’t have any symptoms?

No one should ever assume that they have HIV or a particular STD based on symptoms alone. Many of the symptoms may be related to other illnesses or you may have HIV or an STD and may not manifest a noticeable symptom. The only way to determine whether or not you are infected is to get tested and/or seek medical attention.


2. How do I assess the level of risk of contracting HIV or STD’s based on my own exposure? Maybe I don’t need a test.

While assessing risk is important in gaining some comfortable level emotionally with regards to your contact, a trained medical professional can not assess whether or not you are truly infected. Whether you feel your contact was low risk or high risk, if you are concerned about whether or not you could have been exposed or infected, medical screening is a very effective method is discovering whether or not you have contracted HIV or an STD. 3. Are there any special requirements before I give my specimen at the lab?

Some tests may have special requirements. Within each test description, there will be a notation if there is a specific specimen requirement.


4. I feel nervous and embarrassed to go to the lab for STD and/or HIV testing. What should I expect?

The laboratory consists of a waiting room and several small specimen collection rooms. When you arrive at the laboratory, indicate to the lab staff at the front desk that a medical order has been faxed in for you with your name or code name on it (depending how you set up your test). If there are other customers around, rest assured that no one knows which test you are taking except the laboratory staff. The lab collects specimens for 100’s of types of tests at each of their collection centers.


5. Do I need to schedule an appointment at the laboratory testing center?

No appointment is needed at the laboratory. Once your order is placed with Request A Test, Ltd.™, we will send your medical order to the lab within 15 minutes of your order. Once your medical order is at the lab location of your choice, you may walk in to the lab during their business hours. We ask out of courtesy to the lab staff, that you arrive at least 30 minutes before their lunch break (if any) or before they close.


6. How does the ordering process work?

After reviewing our website for testing information, please call us at our toll free number to begin the ordering process. One of our trained representatives will go over the testing information with you and answer any additional questions that you may have. Once a location has been selected, we will process your order over the phone, accept payment and then generate your medical order. Your medical order will be faxed into the laboratory location of your choice within 15 minutes of your order. You may then walk into the lab location during their business hours (please arrive no later than ½ hr before closing), claim your medical order (either with your name or code name) and give your specimens. To obtain your results, please call into Request A Test, Ltd after the recommended turnaround time.


7. Can I receive a copy of my test results?

Once you call in to receive your results over the phone, a copy of the results can be mailed or faxed to you.


8. Is my personal information and test results protected and kept private?

9. How secure should I feel with the results that I receive from Request A Test, Ltd.™

Request A Test, Ltd contracts with nationally recognized and CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment) certified laboratories in the United States. These laboratories are commonly used by Doctors, Hospitals and Clinics in your area.


10. What are some of the benefits of using Request A Test, Ltd.™?

Request A Test, Ltd offers our clients same day direct access to laboratory testing. Results are complete as early as 1 business day. There is no additional charge for a doctor’s office visit, no need for an appointment and no long waiting room visits. Because our clients go directly to the lab to give their specimens, the testing process is discrete.


11. Does Request A Test, Ltd.™ accept insurance as a form of payment and what are my payment options?

Request A Test, Ltd.™ does not accept insurance as a form of payment. Payment can be made by Western Union, credit or debit card, cash deposit to a bank, Visa or American Express gift cards or money orders. For payment information, please refer to our payment options page.


12. If I use my own personal credit or debit card, how will the charges appear on my credit or debit card?
